Established in 1892, the Public Health Laboratory was the world's first Municipal Bacteriological Laboratory. In the century since its first campaign, to control diphtheria in New York City, the bureau has expanded to provide a wide variety of clinical and environmental laboratory testing services. Today’s Public Health Laboratory performs testing on more than 200,000 specimens it receives annually, for everything from anthrax, HIV, rabies and Zika to food-borne illnesses, along with processing other tests conducted at the city’s public hospitals and sexual-health clinics. The feasibility study project for the new 9-story building for the New York City Public Health Laboratory system is to be located at 137th Street between 5th Avenue and Lenox Avenue in Harlem, Manhattan and contains approximately 230,000 sf.

Alongside Perkins Eastman, Setty provided a space needs study that includes the new facilities’ functional Space Program Requirements, a set of Conceptual Design plans and a Project Cost Estimate that will become the basis for moving forward with the new PHL building. Setty developed Mechanical, Electrical, Plumbing and Fire Protection systems and refined with DOH & PHL plant operations and facilities personnel input. These narratives were used to inform the construction budget that was developed for this study. The space types covered in this study included BSL-3 Laboratories, Chemical and cold room storage, specimen intake, processing lab, conference rooms, community clinics, auditorium, training lab, support facilities, & office work stations.

Lynchburg Public Library

The City of Lynchburg made efforts to modernize and re-image the interior design of its Main Library located at 2315 Memorial Avenue Lynchburg, Virginia. The Library opened at its Memorial Avenue location in 1984 and has underwent a few updates to its design since its opening. The building was formerly a Sears store before it was issued to become the City’s library. After almost 35 years, the Lynchburg Public Library has begun its process of upgrading the interior of the branch to assimilate to the 21st century aesthetic. The City of Lynchburg’s vision it to continue to make the Library a source of pride and engagement for its community while reflecting contemporary style.

In aiding the library’s steps towards modernization, SETTY is providing MEP/FP and Controls Design and Construction Administration reflective of a 21st century library. In addition, we have performed code analysis and MEP/FP and controls calculations and has worked to demolish the existing mechanical and control systems. SETTY has provided electrical power connections, performance specifications for the sprinkler system, and coordination of power and conduct provisions alongside architectural, civil and structural disciplines for MEP/FP and Controls design.

University of Georgia, Poultry Sciences Research Facilities

The University of Georgia’s Poultry Science Department’s Poultry Research Center (PRC), originally built in 1998, is a multi-building complex under the university’s College of Agricultural & Environmental Sciences. World-renowned advances in nutrition, genetic-selection, environmental management, physiology, reproduction, and health advancements have been made by researchers in this facility for decades. UGA’s wish to upgrade the PRC is critical and with SETTY’s provided commissioning services, the PRC will continue to attract world-renowned poultry scientists and provide them with the facilities to be more competitive.

SETTY will provide the University of Georgia’s Poultry Sciences Research Facilities with commissioning services of approximately 26,100 sf. The project includes renovation of classroom buildings, ABSL labs and processing buildings. Our provided commissioning scope includes HVAC, fire and life safety, domestic hot water, and lighting systems and controls equipment. SETTY will also help develop and implement a commissioning plan and specifications specific to the PRC and its betterment. 

Congress Heights Metro Mixed Use Design

Geoffrey Griffis, developer of the Congress Heights Metro Mixed Use Design Project, stated how “There's a real community here, but it's been terribly underserved. This is a chance to bring more opportunities for retail and employment.”  This project will supply the Congress Heights area with a vibrant and safe, new community that is transit-oriented. Setty contribution of MEP/FP Design Services will provide community members with underground parking, larger sidewalks for pedestrians, an eight-story office building and 200+ residential building, and accessible metro station entrance surrounded by a beautiful courtyard.

Setty’s services include MEP/FP and Fire Alarm design, Energy Modeling, LEED, BIM/Revit Modeling and Construction Administration for two buildings on the Congress Heights Metro site. The office building (236,355 sf) design shall be core and shell design with tenant fitout design in a separate scope. The residential apartment design (211,233 sf) shall be a complete MEP design but all retail spaces shall be core and shell only. Pool design by others but Setty shall provide MEP hook-ups. We will provide a Foundation to Grade package for the Residential and Office buildings.

Net Zero design services shall include a sensitivity analysis, 8760 hour energy usage modeling study and power generation design for a PV farm and/or fuel cell design all on site. No other prime movers are considered under this proposal. Setty shall help to identify funding sources such as PACE or DOE grants but application and calculations for these programs shall be a separate service.

The State University of New York College of Agriculture and Technology at Cobleskill was founded in 1911 in the rural city of Cobleskill, NY. SUNY Cobleskill has earned its recognition since its founding for its rich academic tradition and service to its community. The college offers its students intimate class settings, hands-on learning experiences, diverse study abroad programs, and numerous extracurricular activities. To continue to house these opportunities for its students, SUNY Cobleskill aims to design a facility complex for the campus.

In the SUNY Cobleskill Facility Complex Design, Setty’s services will include MEP design, Energy Modeling, Construction Administration and Condition Assessment for a facilities complex of approximately 25,568 sf. Code analysis and MEP calculations will be provided by SETTY in addition to ensuring that the design facility is low safety risk through extensive surveying.

SUNY Old Westbury Natural Sciences Building Addition & Rehabilitation

The Natural Sciences Building has 69,386 gsf (40,471 nasf), and was constructed in 1985 with two (2) stories above grade and a basement. This building serves as the primary academic facility for the sciences and also houses the STEP/CSTEP program and the SUNY Neuroscience Research Institute. Most of the building components are approaching the end of their useful lives and are in need of rehabilitation.

Setty is providing MEP/FP design services and construction administration services for an Addition and Full Rehab of the Natural Science Building at SUNY Old Westbury.  As part of these services, and as per Fund's Directives, the Consultant shall provide an analysis of the overall project execution for the construction of the addition and renovation of the existing building. This project will achieve the modernization of the facility which includes classrooms, teaching labs, research labs, and faculty offices for Biological Sciences, Chemistry/Physics, and Public Health.

Setty services will comprise of commissioning during the construction phase is intended to achieve the following specific objectives according to the Contract Documents. Setty will be in charge of conducting a commissioning kickoff meeting to review the commissioning process with the Owner, Architect, and Construction Team and developing and implementing a Commissioning Plan specific to the. We will ensure the functionality of performance and efficiency, equipment documentation, compliance with design intent, sufficiency of operator training and the needed areas of improvement.
