University of Maryland Medical Center at Cambridge is a community hospital that services Dorchester, Caroline and Talbot counties. The Shore Health Medical Center is a single two-story institutional structure of approximately 82,000 square foot located on a green field portion of the existing site at the intersection of Woods Road and Route 50. It provides a full-array of diagnostic and therapeutic services, including lab testing, same-day surgery and rehabilitation.
The medical facility occupies the entire first floor and includes a 22-bed emergency department, 6 observation beds, intensive outpatient behavioral health services, infusion and cardiopulmonary rehabilitation. The second floor is a medical pavilion offering diagnostic imaging, laboratory services, rehabilitation services, pediatrics and specialists, cardiovascular diagnostics, sleep study services, a community education center and a surgery center. An adjacent MRI provides outpatient and emergency department imaging access. The building is designed to be connected to a future Medical Office Building to be design-built on an adjacent site.
The medical center features 20 ER Treatment Bays and 3 Behavioral Health Treatment Bays, 10 Adult Observation/Short Stay Beds with private toilets, Intensive Outpatient Behavioral Health including PHP, IOP and substance abuse in addition to imaging, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Sterile processing facility.
The Shore Health Medical Center is the first new building in a multi-phased site-wide redevelopment of the existing University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Cambridge. SETTY provided MEP/FP design services.
