DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services, Engine Company 26, Washington, DC
The Old Engine Company No. 26 was established in 1908 to enhance fire protection for the new Langdon neighborhood. Because this firehouse served a suburban area outside the city’s fire hydrant system, it was equipped with a chemical engine and became known as Chemical Company No. 3.
In 1940, Old Engine Company No. 26 relocated to 1340 Rhode Island Avenue NE, where it merged with Truck Company No. 15 due to a fire department restructuring that eliminated redundant stations. The combined units were renamed Engine Company No. 26 and are situated between Brentwood and Brookland.
SETTY services include MEP/FP, Fire Alarm Design and Construction Administration for the District of Columbia Fire and Emergency Medical Services that desires to relocate Engine Company No. 26 from its current location of 1340 Rhode Island Avenue, NE, Washington, DC.
The newly constructed facility is a properly sized and equipped engine house facility that will allow Engine Company No. 26 to continue serving the Brentwood neighborhood of First Battalion.
