Lexington Market, Baltimore, MD
Lexington Market, located in the heart of downtown Baltimore City, stands as a culinary and cultural icon with over 200 years of history. Recognized as the longest continuously operating public market in the United States, it has been home to thousands of small businesses, offering fresh and prepared foods, and has hosted diverse gatherings since its beginnings as an open-air cart market in 1782.
The renovation of Lexington Market includes MEP/FP design for a comprehensive upgrade. The project features 39,000 square feet of leasable indoor space accommodating approximately 70 fresh and prepared food stalls, a 50-60 stall outdoor farmers market shed, a shared commercial kitchen, a demonstration kitchen and special event room, a hands-on cooking lab for kids, public seating areas, and market offices.
This project is grounded in community feedback and a rich historical legacy that dates back to the Market's inception.
